So are you sick yet of fall decor? I may or may not of bought a Christmas magazine yesterday… dont judge me!! I just love getting inspired for my home!! I wanted to share with you all the behind the scenes look at what my home decor inspiration includes & how I recreate looks of inspiration on a budget. I want to share with you today my dining room all dressed for Fall, and how I created a centre piece inspired by Mrs. Joanna Gaines herself on a very tight budget. I knew the look I wanted and I went to my local yard sale, thrift stores & favourite home decor shops to complete the look!

If you’re slightly obsessed with the Gaines’ like I am.. you’ll know that Joanna usually decorates with her long luxurious black candlesticks on mantels and table displays. A look that I had never recreated myself until now. I dont know about y’all.. but I never looked into these before to purchase… and let me tell ya… hello pricey idea!! But I’m no stranger to a thrift store and an aerosol paint can.. so to the drawing board I went and decided I could recreate this look with some time and patience. Think your grandmas old candelabras that are brass, rusty or wooden. I hunted and hunted and finally gathered 6 of all different heights, material and shapes. I picked up my favourite Spray Paint from Home Hardware and away I went at transforming these thrift store finds. Better yet, I knew I wanted ivory tall candles and I even found these at my thrift store for like $2. I know.. it was fate!! It really pays off when you do some hunting!!

Safe to say my theme this year for my fall decorating has been pumpkins on pumpkins. So I knew I wanted plenty of pumpkins on my table. One thing I learned from last year that I’m happy to share with you this year, is that real pumpkins inside don’t do so hot. They lasted the first few weeks, but as the nights get cooler and you crank up your heat inside, they can form some mould and give off a slight smell. So this year, I knew I had to start gathering some faux pumpkins in the colour scheme of ivory and green. My favourite pumpkins that ive seen to date can be found at Michaels Craft Store, and if you download their app & become a rewards member you can get huge discounts on their decor as well as their art supplies which I think is super cool. I’m in a Michaels at least once a week for my business, so its quickly became one of my favourite department stores to get Home Decor inspiration from as well. These pumpkins went on sale and I had some coupons.. so they were quite affordable as well! I love how real they look!

Along with my pumpkin display, one piece of decor shown here just keeps getting reused from season to season. AND it was FREE to make. And I made about 20 of them… haha. I’m talking about my grapevine wreaths my friend. I have used them for everything and anything in my home decor. This wreath made the perfect base for my pumpkins, and I had a wicker basket I picked up from IKEA to sit perfectly inside to hold all the pumpkins. I went for lots of texture & neutrals in this display, and I loved how it came together! In the next few weeks I’m going to show you guys a full tutorial on how to make your own grapevine wreaths.. it involves some forest trekking, but its going to be worth it!!!

Another piece of my decor that keeps popping up is Burlap. Burlap is so versatile and such a perfect blank canvas for any table, side board or buffet. I have a feeling this Burlap piece will continue to stay here from season to season as the perfect base! This piece of burlap once was a large piece of burlap I picked up on the clearance table at my local Fabricland and cut into one large runner as shown here, as well as 2 other smaller runners that you can find throughout my home too. I always cut my Burlap with super sharp shears, and then I like to pick away at the ends to give it a bit of a frayed look. You can keep it clean or make it look a bit more worn!

I’m also showing you guys a sneak peek of my sideboard in my dining room where I’m finally starting to create my Ironstone gallery wall. Ironstone is not only beautiful, but holds a special place in my heart. I grew up watching my Mom collect Ironstone and display it in my childhood farmhouse. She wanted to pass some pieces onto me, so my collection has quickly been growing! I believe these pieces to be classic & timeless, the perfect fit for my century home. That large decorative window is off of an old church found at a garage sale last spring, and I dressed it up with again some burlap and those trusty grapevine wreaths. I’m excited to keep growing this space and will show you more soon!!

If youre finding me through Instagram I said I would also let you guys know my sources and inspiration for my backdoor Fall scene! That was another one to create – you can see my Instagram post about it here.. but its not different then the rest of my decor. All on a budget reusing and repurposing either things I already have, or budget friendly finds. Of course you can see my wreath on my door is my Free grapevine wreathe with some burlap to hang. I carried my summer ferns into my fall decor this year as well to save some $$ on buying a million Mums (but I wouldn’t hate that either…haha) and then just purchased a few small mums to tuck in-between the ferns and scene of pumpkins. My back door mat which is just a plain one from IKEA I decided to dress up with a mat I found at Dollarama for $3… The pattern of it was speaking to me!! So I decided to layer my mats at the back door! I love all the different textures in this photo – it brings me so much joy every time I get home!!
