If you’re anything like me you’ve had your mind on decorating your Christmas Tree since November 1st.. am I right? Well friend – today is the day we are talking Christmas Trees and all the indoor winter decor. Just like my Outdoor Winter Decor, I strive to keep all my indoor decor neutral and texture with natural elements. I am pulled towards greens, browns, whites and all the different textures of these elements. When thinking about this years Christmas tree, I was drawn to live an even simpler Christmas – so I caved and purchased a faux tree. I absolutely love a real Christmas tree, but with the pace my life keeps me at, I can’t start really decorating until mid December, and then theres the maintenance of keeping the tree nourished indoors. Especially next to our wood stove, the Tree last year dried out so fast on us. So a faux tree from Canadian Tire and a faux greenery garland from Canadian Tire is hopefully going to give the illusion of real, yet keep the extra work low!

Now within our living room – it is probably the room that needs the most work. But we have been limited on the ‘big stuff’ that we can do until the big window is replaced (..happening in January!) so we have that structural side of things taken care of. Then all the built ins, window seat and shelving can finally take place. We are also looking at redoing the floors and the hearth to our fireplace! All in good time, but it makes me excited that these projects can start to take shape soon!

When it comes to my Christmas Tree, I really dont go to Pinterest for inspiration or see what’s trending on Instagram, I really just go with my gut. Again, being pulled to these colours and natural elements I turn to my house to see what I have ‘laying around’ for inspiration. After I got my prelit Tree up from Canadian Tire, I added a burlap garland that I had stored away from Dollarama and natural dried stained Seeded Eucalyptus that I have had for years found at Homesense. I added the sprigs of Eucalyptus throughout the tree giving it some added texture, colour and some ‘realness’. Then I added my ornaments that are either from Michales or handmade by yours truly! Ta da! Tree is done! I want to keep this motto for years to come when it comes to my tree – I want a tree that I love that I can always add all those goofy, corny, handmade and special ornaments without feeling like my tree isn’t ‘on trend’!

My garland for our mantel I had the same accessories for, burlap garland and eucalyptus was added to give the same mood as the tree! With these both twinkling all night.. ahh its just the best cozy Christmas setting. Speaking of mantels.. We are trying to figure out a way to display and store wood next to the fireplace during the winter months in a.. let’s say a decorative way 😉 We go through anywhere from 5-15 pieces of wood a day depending on what our schedules allow. So I’m stumped on how to display to the wood so its clean yet very accessible. Stay tuned friends for some ideas!! Or if you have some inspiration leave it below for me to check out!!

The rest of my decor for this room isnt anything special, all things I had around my home! All giving the natural & neutral vibes that is slowly becoming the main theme for this years Winter Decor in The Morganston House. And I’m loving alll the twinkle now as I sit here enjoying the warmth of the fire and twinkle of the Christmas lights. Giving me all the feels!!! I hope this inspires you to make your home cozy this winter season.. Thanks for stopping by the blog today and can’t wait to share more soon!!
