Happy Saturday friend! Man I’m excited that the weekend is here. A lot is going on at The Morganston House this weekend, from my Business’ Open House, welcoming friends from out of town all while enjoying all the Fall things. One thing that I know you love as much as me, is lighting all my Fall candles throughout the house when I have guests over to give that cozy Fall scent throughout my home. I keep finding myself looking for alternatives to lighting candles so A- I never forget about them and B-I’m not breaking the bank on the really good Soy ones! I will splurge here & there don’t get me wrong… But I think I’ve found the perfect alternative to quickly fill my home with that lovely scent all while keeping things on a small DIY Budget.

I tackled this small DIY last year for Christmas, but I got to thinking – why can’t I make a fall scent simmer pot as well!? Yes thats right – we are going to combine some household ingredients in a pot of boiling water and let it simmer all weekend throughout your home for that amazing Fall scent! So I’m calling this one The Fall Simmer Pot!

What you need:

Large Pot

5 cups of water

1 Granny Smith Apple, sliced (I sliced across the apple to give it a more appealing look then regular slices!)

4-5 Cinnamon Sticks, Raw

1 tbsp Vanilla

1 tbsp Ginger

1 tbsp Ginger Gloves, Raw or Ground

1 tbsp Cinnamon

1 tbsp Pumpkin Pie Spice

4-5 Star Anise spice, Raw

Some of these ingredients you will have in your pantry, others I sourced out at my local Bulk Barn sniffing each spice as I went! I picked out what smelt like Fall to me and what I thought would blend well together! I think all these measurements of spices came up to $2 or less. Id suggest stocking up on Cinnamon sticks for your Christmas pot in a few months too! I find myself shopping more & more at Bulk Barn as I can gauge and measure exactly what I need, and not to mention the Chocolate aisle is drool worthy for a treat here and there. I also love how they have the Mason Jar program where you can reuse your jars for spices etc.

The Process:

Prepare all ingredients onto a plate as shown.

Place 5 cups of water into your large pot. Pour all ingredients from plate into pot.

Bring pot to a boil or high heat. Stir occasionally.

Let boil for 2 minutes.

Reduce heat to low heat.

Set timer for 4 hours.

Stir and turn heat off. Let the scent continue to seep into your home!

Note: This mixture should last up to 3 days covered on stove when not in use. The perfect weekend simmer pot!

I currently have this simmering on my stove top and I’m in love! The scent has made its way upstairs already, perfect to welcome our house guests soon! I hope you have a beautiful weekend doing whatever you’re doing my friend, enjoy this easy Fall Simmer Pot recipe! May your home smell like Fall!
